Overnight Oats

Description

This recipe uses old-fashioned oats! The idea is to soak the oats overnight in liquid which then makes a convenient breakfast. Also known as Birchers Muesli, this takes your breakfast to another level.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Mix together & leave overnight in the fridge (air-tight container/jar)
  2. Use this as a base and vary the toppings
  3. Sweeten with some honey

Notes

  • Packed with soluble fibre, anti-oxidants, healthy fat, protein & wholesome carbs.
  • Benefits include: cholesterol lowering, blood sugar control (this helps with cravings), preventing/helping with constipation, increasing satiety (feeling full), and a source of healthy fats (omega 3).
  • Use less liquid for a thicker consistency.
  • Use this as a base and experiment with different fruit/veg combinations, nuts or nut butter & some honey to sweeten.
  • Carrot Cake – grated carrots, cinnamon, mixed spice & almond butter
  • Cinnamon Apple -grated apple, cinnamon, walnuts & raisins
  • Chocolate Blueberry- Cocoa powder, few choc chips & blueberries
  • Peanut Butter Banana Dream – Peanut butter, sliced banana & cocoa powder
  • Pina Colada – chopped pineapple & coconut flakes/dessicated
